The BAA Shop: Terms and Conditions of Sale

Welcome to the terms of use for the British Astronomical Association’s online shop. By accessing this Website and/or placing an order you agree to be bound by the terms and conditions set out below. If you do not agree to be bound by these terms and conditions you may not use or access this Website.

Registration and Privacy

You warrant that the Personal Information which you are required to provide when you register as a customer is true, accurate, current and complete in all respects; and you will notify us immediately of any changes to the Personal Information by contacting the BAA Office on +44 (0)207 734 4145 between 9am to 5pm, Mon-Fri.

We will treat all your Personal Information as confidential. We will keep it on a secure server and we will fully comply with all applicable UK Data Protection and consumer legislation.

When you shop on this website, we will ask you to input and will collect Personal Information from you. We may also collect information about where you are on the internet, your browser type, the country where your computer is located, the pages of our website that were viewed during your visit, the advertisements you clicked on, and any search terms that you entered on our website. We may collect this information even if you do not register with us.

We confirm that any Personal Information which you provide to us (or which is available on public registers) and any User Information from which we can identify you, is held in accordance with the registration we have with the Data Commissioner's Office.

We use your information only for the following purposes:

* Processing your orders;
* For statistical or survey purposes to improve this Website and its services to you;
* To serve website content and advertisements to you;
* To administer this website.

You agree that you do not object to us contacting you for any of the above purposes whether by telephone, e-mail or in writing and you confirm that you do not and will not consider any of the above as being a breach of any of your rights under the Privacy and Electronic Communications (EC Directive) Regulations 2003.

We use Cookies to keep track of your current shopping session to personalise your experience and so that you may retrieve your shopping basket at any time - if you do not accept Cookies you will be unable to use this Website.

Order acceptance

Order acceptance and the completion of the contract between you and us will take place on the dispatch to you of the Products ordered unless we have notified you that we do not accept your order, or you have cancelled it in accordance with the instructions on our site.

We may refuse to accept an order because of one of the following:

* The product you ordered being unavailable from stock.
* Our inability to obtain authorisation for your payment.
* The identification of a pricing or product description error.
* You not meeting the eligibility to order criteria.

Delivery Policy

We ship most orders within five working days of receipt, but shipping may occasionally take up to 28 days when products are temporarily out of stock. Where this is the case, we usually indicate in the product description that shipping may be delayed.

We ship UK orders via Royal Mail second class post, and delivery usually occurs within 2-3 working days of shipping.

International orders are shipped by Royal Mail airmail, and may take a little longer.

If you do not receive your goods within 28 days of receiving your order, we will contact you offering you the right to cancel your order and receive a full refund.

Post and packing

All prices listed on the BAA website exclude post and packing. A small P&P charge based on the weight and destination of your order will be added when you proceed to the checkout.

Minimum Age Policy

BAA membership is open to astronomers of all ages. However, in order to use our online shop, you must be at least 16 years of age. We recommend that younger members ask their parent or guardian to make payment on their behalf.

Your right to cancel

Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 you have the right to cancel your Order within 14 days of receiving your Goods.

If you wish to cancel your order please call us +44 (0)207 734 4145 as soon as possible, but at the latest within 14 days of receiving your Goods.

If Goods have already been received you will be responsible for returning the Goods. You must return them following the instructions detailed in the Returns policy below.

If you cancel your Order in accordance with the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 we will process the refund due to you as soon as possible and, in any case, within 14 days of the day you have given notice of your cancellation, or we receive the item / proof of postage. In this case we will refund the price of the Goods to be returned in full (including the postage cost of sending the Goods to you).

Returns Policy

In addition to your statutory right to cancel your Order within 14 days, if for any reason you are unhappy with your purchase from the Website, you can return it to us in its original condition, in original packaging with its proof of purchase within 30 days of the date you received the Good(s).

If items are faulty or damaged when received, or if an incorrect item is shipped, you may return them at any time for a full refund including postage. For more information, please contact the BAA Office on +44 (0)207 734 4145 between 9am to 5pm, Mon-Fri.

Description of products

Each Product purchased is sold subject to its Product Description which sets out additional Specific Conditions related to that Product including, without limitation, terms and conditions concerning estimated delivery dates and times, warranties, after-sales service and guarantees.

We will take all reasonable care to ensure that all details, descriptions and prices of Products appearing on the Website are correct at the time when the relevant information was entered onto the system. Although we aim to keep the Website as up to date as possible, the information including Product Descriptions appearing on this Website may not always reflect the position exactly at the moment you place an order. We cannot confirm the price of a Product until your order is accepted in accordance with our Order acceptance policy.

Law

The Conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and you irrevocably submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England.
