Jupiter imaged by Manos Kardasis from Greece, on November 6 & 7 2010. Manos writes: "I took advantage of the rare good seeing conditions over Greece in the latest days to do a Hi-Res Strip Map. Unfortunately on the 6th of Nov. the seeing got worst after midnight so I took the risk among clouds to fill the bad parts in the following night."

Hardware: Canon EOS 5D MkII, SkyWatcher 254mm f/4.8 Newtonian on HEQ5 mount (driven but not guided)Exposures: 32 x 30s ISO6400 2010-10-01 21:03:09-21:21:10 UTSoftware: GRIPThis image shows a comparison between two different ways of processing one set of 32 photos. On the left the photos have been shifted so that the comet stays in one position and then accumulated. That gives a proper view of the comet. On the right the stars have been merged, so the comet moves slightly in front of them. That makes it easier to identify the stars. The brightest star, just up and right from the comet, the only star showing diffraction spikes, is Tycho 3659 1253 1. Its V magnitude is 8.63. The brightest trail immediately to the right of the comet is Tycho 3659 1811 1, V magnitude 11.04.North is approximately at the top, east on the left. All processing was done in GRIP (GR's Image Processor)Graham Relf

Currently observing from Barbados, Damian had some excellent conditoins on September 25th and was able to capture this fine image of Neptune, with Triton nearby. Damian writes: "These are false coloured images taken through a long pass red light filter. I deliberately kept the sharpening fairly light to minimise artefacts as much as possible. Neptune shows some vague details. The brighter spot near the top of the disk immediately pops out even with light sharpening."
