45P/Honda-Mrkos-Pajdusakova in the morning sky

Our old friend 45P/Honda-Mrkos-Pajdusakova is again visible from the UK following its perihelion at the end of last year. It is currently low in the dawn sky but will rise rapidly over the next few weeks. I imaged it this morning but was very disappointed with the result although it was low and in the horizon haze. This is a single 120s sub and I'll try some more stacking this evening. The comet makes a close approach to the Earth on Feb 11. There is a BAA chart covering the next couple of weeks here.

Comet 45P over Southend airport

Here's my image of 45P taken at the same time as Nick's (2017 Feb 3rd 06.03 UT), but from my observatory. The comet was only 10 degrees altitude and in all the light pollution and murk over Southend Airport which is about a mile away. From my observatory there is only one small section of sky that I can view down to a low altitude and the comet was nicely placed in it!
I was expecting 45P to be much brighter. Lets hope it improves over the next few days.

Thought you would be out this

Thought you would be out this morning for this one! It is very diffuse and surprisingly difficult at the moment.
