I have a friend who is in his second year at the University of Nottingham studying astrophysics. He would like to find a placement for the summer to get some experience of helping out with a research project or the like; ideally based in the Midlands but he would be happy to consider any potential opportunity.
If anyone has any information please leave it here or drop me an email and I'll put you in touch with him.
Regards
James Dawson
James,
It's fairly common for universities to offer short summer placements to promising undergraduates. However, they normally happen within the institution where the student is studying. I'd recommend he pesters his tutors and lecturers. They're probably busy people, so persevere with it!
Best wishes,
Dominic.
Leiden Uni in the Netherlands offer a summer school program, only 2 changes of trains to get there from Nottingham!

Thanks both.
Nottingham has a number of projects but these preferentially go to students between 3rd and 4th year it seems. So he is exploring other options too.
I've emailed him the Leiden link, thank you.
