Total Eclipse of the Sun, August 11th., 1999, 10.27 U.T.

Image taken when Manchester Astronomical Society went to northern France to observe the eclipse. Most of the time the sky was cloudy, but at a crucial moment a hole in the clouds about two degrees across allowed us to secure a few seconds of magnificent totality. Had we been a few hundred yards on either side of our location we would probably have missed it.
