V854 Cen is an RCB star that is probably more active than either R CrB or RY Sgr. It is the next brightest R CrB star to these two and can be monitored using binoculars. The other object believed to be an RCB star is XX Cam, but only one minimum of that has been reported. In this image, before and after images are included in juxtaposition, the first, taken on May 25th., 2009, showing the variable, and the second, taken on June 15th., 2009 showing that the star had faded. This is an excellent demonstration of stellar variability.
