This panoramic image, shows the marvellous noctilucent cloud display observed from Thurso Beach by Gordon on the night of 3rd/4th July. He notes that the
reflections on the wet sand and the beautiful mix of silver-blue ripples and tendrils sprawling across the northern half of the sky was a mesmerising sight to see.

This composite image covers a little over 180 degrees of horizontal view (centred approximately due north). It was produced from stitching together 7 overlapping wide angle shots. The photos were taken on a tripod mounted Canon 760D DSLR with a Sigma 10-20mm lens set at 10mm and f/3.5. The exposures were 0.8 seconds at ISO 100, and were taken in quick succession to prevent problems stitching the images containing rapid moving low altitude clouds. The panorama stitching and final image processing was carried out in Adobe Lightroom 6.
