Next week, the time will come for us to update the certificate we use to keep our website secure — our SSL certificate.

In line with industry standards, we will be upgrading to a new security standard: SHA256. This isn’t a choice that the BAA has made: all secure websites will be required to make this upgrade by the end of 2016.

The vast majority of users of the BAA website should see no change whatsoever, providing their computers are less than 10-15 years old. However, some very old operating systems will not support the new security arrangement.

Users running Windows Vista, 7, 8 or 10 will still be able to access our website. Users running Windows XP will need to have Service Pack 3 (or higher) installed. Computers running older versions of Windows will no longer be able to access our website.

Apple users will need to be running OS X 10.5 or higher.

Please do let us know if you envisage this causing you problems.
