I quote from the BBC page on the February issue of The Sky at Night:
“There are no upcoming broadcasts of this programme”.

There certainly hasn’t been one in the new (2nd Sunday 10pm on BBC4) slot. Does anyone know what the BBC’s intentions are? Is this the end?

    David,

I think it has been suspended for a month while Stargazing Live is on. It’s due back in April.

At the end of the February edition it was announced that there would not be a programme in March (when Stargazing Live is due to cover the Solar Eclipse). The next Sky at Night will be in April with the first broadcast on the 12th. There was no explanation of why the BBC considered it necessary to suspend the Sky at Night for the month when Stargazing Lize will be transmitted.

    Martin and Nick:

I still find the “no upcoming broadcasts” statement worrying: “Next broadcast in April” is actually shorter. The BBC has a record of messing about with schedules of programmes before dropping them.

SGL is aimed at a wider audience than TSAN. I would be unhappy if the keener focus of The Sky at Night were lost even if an intermittent outreach-type programme became established.
