We seem to be getting a lot of fascinating images lately from the other side of the Earth.  This latest image, by Paul Curtis, shows the Southern Milky Way with the Carina Nebula (NGC3722), the Southern Pleiades (C102) and the Running Chicken Nebula (C100). The image was taken with a modified Canon 1100D DSLR, unguided, with a 50mm f1.8 lens. 30 second exposure (3 x 10 seconds) at ISO 1600. The image was taken from the Auckland Astronomical Society observatory, Auckland, New Zealand, June 2014.
