Comet 29P/Schwassmann–Wachmann - Webinar

Date:
Wednesday, 2021, May 12 - 19:00 to 20:00

This week's webinar will be on Comet 29P/Schwassmann–Wachmann, by Dr Richard Miles and Prof Laura Woodney

Tune in to the latest webinar to hear about this 'comet', one of the most bizarre objects in the Solar System, as well as plans to send a space mission there. Amateur observations have been key in uncovering some of its mysteries but only by sending an unmanned mission to orbit this Centaur object will we discover its true nature.

Laura Woodney is Professor of Physics and Astronomy at California State University, San Bernardino and is a Planetary Scientist currently specializing in ground-based optical observations of small icy bodies in the solar system (comets, centaurs). She is also the Deputy Principal Investigator of the Chimera team, who have the objective of sending a space mission to orbit Comet 29P and study it from close-up.
