ARPS Observing Campaigns for 2020-21

The current low-phase angle photometry campaign is looking at selected asteroids belonging to the Themis family.

The objective is to perform V photometry of these objects spanning as wide a range of phase angle as possible, and in particular trying to obtain observations at, or very close to opposition. 

Progress report – So far we have managed to catch all of the first 4 asteroids listed on their night at opposition. Asteroid (2324) Janice is now heading for solar conjunction and has faded to 17th magnitude and so no further observations are required. 

(515) Athalia is the next target of opportunity and so V filter imaging of this 15th magnitude target is encouraged using telescopes of 0.2-m aperture or larger.
