For a while now I have been using a  little on line tool by Dr Roger Wesson, UCL  to check up on the observability of transients from my location. Called https://observability.date/  , you enter the object name or drop in the coordinates and it essentially  gives you graphically what you need  to plan an observation from your location, for tonight or during the year.

He has been quietly adding features based on user requests and the latest at my suggestion is the ability click on the surrounding objects it identifies in the zoomable DSS image and it links you to the page for that object in SIMBAD

While many of the features can no doubt be found in planetarium programs, I rather like it !

    Cheers
