Venus yesterday using my 12" Newtonian.  I thought I could see some short faint cusp extensions using the larger aperture.

Its interesting you are beginning to pick up cusp extensions now. The only time I ever saw them was 2 days before the 2004 transit when Venus had definite cusp extensions forming about 75 pc of a ring in my telescope. Most Inferior Conjunctions, I suspect, are too distant to show any definite cusp extensions.

A number of observers tend to pick them up at each elongation. Yhis is a little earlier for me, I tend to see them when the phase is about 4%.
