I'm a member ofBreckland Astronomical society. At 2:30 am Wednesday morning I drove about 150 miles from rainy Norwich, and made it to a field in Buckinghamshire (near Aylesbury off the A61) at about 5 am and decided to stop and take my chances with the clearing sky. I set up the society's4" Vixen refractor on a tripod with a Canon1000D (modified) at prime focus. Using ISO 100 and full aperture (~f/11) at 1/4000", I took this pictureatjust after half past 5 (I believe),just as a tiny gap in the cloud passed over the sun. A great adventure and a lucky success. I hear the Abingdon society (60km to the SW) were clouded out and thecloudwas clearing from this direction.
