Mars comparison 25th Jan 2019 vs 31st July 2018

ASI174MM for IR ASI224MC for RGB

Here's a size comparison of Mars with similar face presented to us- Close to opposition last July when it was ~24" across, versus the diminutive 6.4" it was last night (25th Jan 2019). Polar cap is now about 0.33" across which is close to the Dawes limit of my scope at 0.26".
IR image from last July as RGB much less detailed due to global dust storm in progress back then.
Cheers
