Dr. Paul Roche, Cardiff University and Faulkes Telescope Project, has just posted a request on BAAVSS-ALERT for photometric observations and H-alpha spectroscopy of the bright Be star X Persei. You can see the full message here
Thought there might be a few observers here who might be interested in taking part, who wouldn't have seen the alert message.
Good luck,
Gary
According to BeSS, it is not catalogued as a Be star unfortunately otherwise there would undoubtedly have been a good history of H alpha spectra of this bright object. Does anyone know why it is not in the Be Star catalogue ?
Robin
I didn’t notice this request for spectroscopic monitiring of this object in the spectroscopy section.
It is always a little tricky when a topic can cover more than one forum category.
I tend not to look at the individual forums unless I am looking for a historic post. Instead I look at the lower right hand side of the web pages, where the 4 threads with the most recent activity are shown. To look back further I click on 'See more' as this takes you to a full list of forum posts in descending date order. That way I can be sure I don't miss anything.
Cheers,
Andy
Indeed Andy.
I didn't want to post the alert twice - variable stars and spectroscopy - and as X Per is a VS, that (to me) was the correct place to post it!
Gary
Forgive me, I’m new to the BAA. I will do as Andy suggests. John.
No problem John. This is just a preference and I have seen some people who do post the same item to more than one forum. Personally I find that harder to follow as then you have to check 2 threads for updates.
I have posted some information specifically about spectroscopy in the spectroscopy section
