SN 2017gjn
Observing location
Tynemouth, UK
Scope: 200mm SCT at f/6.3
Camera: ASI178MM. Baader UV/IR cut
Software: Firecapture and DeepSkyStacker
53 x 5s subs

Midpoint of capture 21:38 UT; 22:38 BST. I cropped and inverted the image for clarity. I'll post the non-inverted image too.

I read that Robin Leadbeater had confirmed (by spectroscopy) this object as a type IA supernova, and wanted to see whether I could image it. The moon was very full (!) and very bright (!) this evening, but I just about managed the task.

I carried out non-linear stretches on the stack to generate this posted image, so it is not suitable for photometry. I may try aperture photometry on the unstretched FITS stack though (this would just be a clear measurement, not with a photometric V filter). I am also concerned that the annulus that measures the sky background will capture the adjacent star.
