THE TRANSIT OF IAPETUS  - 2007 JANUARY 7

Transits and eclipses of satellite Iapetus are very rare. However conditions for a transit occurred on the night of 2007 January 6/7. This was successfully observed visually by David Gray, Alan Heath and Richard McKim. The satellite was projected against the south edge of the South Equatorial Belt.
