Jupiter’s polar cyclones: Animations

These are animations of the cyclones in Jupiter’s polar polygons, created by Gerald Eichstädt from JunoCam images.

Credit: NASA / SwRI / MSSS / Gerald Eichstädt.

They may be reproduced for non-commercial purposes as long as credit is given.

They are animations of two or more polar projection maps of the cyclones in the polar polygons, showing the rapid winds circulating round within the cyclones.

In order of appearance, they show:  PJ1, south;  PJ6, north;  PJ4, north;  PJ4, south; PJ5, south; PJ5, south.

The “rocket trail” in no.5 is a band of haze which catches the sunlight as it emerges from the night side.
