Membership

The various rates of subscription are shown below. Please note that costs are given in pounds sterling (£), American dollars, (US$), and Australian Dollars (A$). If you pay by credit card the dollar prices are indicative only. Credit card payments will be debited in Sterling and will appear on your statement following conversion at the prevailing exchange rate. To apply for membership, please return the following items to the Assistant Secretary:

  1. The Application Form duly completed and countersigned.
  2. Your cheque for the subscription plus entrance fee (if applicable) and any additional payment for Circulars (if required). Credit cards can also be accepted. Fax your credit card details if you are worried about security alternatively we are happy to receive the details by e-mail to the office. Many members prefer to pay their subscriptions by direct debit, so if you wish to use this method for future payments, please request a direct debit mandate at the time of posting your first payment. The annual subscription, for ordinary membership of the Association for the current session is £34.00. For details of concessionary rates, and other membership information, see below. Subscriptions are due on 1st August each year.

Family membership is available for couples living at the same address. Only one Journal and Handbook will be sent although both may use the library, attend meetings and have a vote. Note that copies of the Annual Handbook can be purchased at a cost to non-members of £9.50 or US$ 18.84 (surface) or USD 21.34 (airmail). A non-member Journal subscription is £37.35 (both prices surface mail) and Circulars UK and Europe cost £5.20.

Associate Membership is open to all, including societies, but especially to educators and those under 18. Associate Members may use the library and attend meetings. They do not have a vote.

Payment is accepted in Sterling on a UK Bank, US or Australian Bank, by US$ cheque, Australian $ cheque, or by credit card.

New members joining between August and January will be sent the publications of the current session. New members (regardless of age) joining between February and May can pay the reduced rate of either £20.00 for the February, April and June Journals plus the current Handbook or £14.00 for the above Journals without the Handbook.

New members joining in June or July will be held over to the beginning of the next session unless they specify otherwise.

Regular United Kingdom Income Tax payers are encouraged to consider completing a Gift Aid certificate in order to benefit the Association, which is a registered charity, and can claim a refund from the Inland Revenue from the tax paid by a member.
