SN2002jn in UGC 11523, discovered 2002 December 9.

 

IAU Circular 8030 : T. Boles reports the discovery of an apparent supernova (mag. 18.0) on an unfiltered CCD image taken on Dec. 9.767 UT with a 0.35-m reflector. The new object is located at RA 20h 11m 59s.91, Dec +5º 31' 16".0, which is approximately 10".0 west and 11".5 north of the center of UGC 11523. M. Schwartz, Cottage Grove, OR, confirmed the new object with the 0.82-m Tenagra telescope on Dec. 11.073. Boles measured position end figures 59s.94, 15".6 from Schwartz’ image. SN2002jn is not present on Boles’ images from Oct. 18 (limiting mag. 18.5) or Sept. 28 (limiting mag. 19.0), and it is not present on Palomar Sky Survey red and blue plates from 1990 or on a Quick-V survey plate from 1982.
