Dr Farnham posted the following on the Wirtanen campaign page: Images from Aug 9, 2018 were obtained when Wirtanen was at a heliocentric distance of 1.86 AU, geocentric distance of 1.09 AU, and had an R magnitude ~17. It shows a short tail to the WSW. The image is ~60,000 km across at the comet's distance. |
