This is a drawing I made to show the inner coma of C/1995-01 Hale-Bopp on the morning of 14 February 1997, with my 150mm f13 refractor, then sited near Richmond in North Yorkshire. The coma revealed bright knots and jets, and was so active as to change in appearance over just a few minutes. South is up. |
